I was just curious if anyone was interested in the new epic battles game that's going to release; I think latter this year. it looked real fun but I never really trust games by score, and I had a feeling, that there were others that felt the same way. just wanted to get an estimate on how many were going to play.

Isn't it similar to V.S.? At least that's what I thought. I'll do some more research but I'm always open to new games.

nobody likes score, however, it seems to me, that one of their biggest flaws in making sets; which is a massive jump in card power from set A to set B, will be fixed because the characters themselves don't get stronger. I believe they overpower sets because in whatever anime they make a game out of, the characters in a season discover new abillities and powers making them stronger, and score attempts to reflect that in the game.
now, in the epic battles game we arn't dealing with any seasons in a show, people don't ever get any stronger than they were in their origional game. the only thing they gain in MK is weapons and a ton of bad character designs. and street fighter has never changed...it's even still in 2D, why do people buy it? my point is, if the game has a good system worth playing, I don't think score is going to jack with it too much. so it will remain a good game for a very long time.
of course score does have another problem, they don't play test more than a month. but I don't think anything could change that, and as long as we play ccg's we'll have to deal with it.

This is very similar to the gameplay of re-z lol.

it does seem a lot like dbz/ re-z.. one wierd thing is that you play attacks and event costs using "energy" that is produced from playing attacks wether they were stopped or not... so you have to play attacks to have enrgy to play attacks... seems the game will have to revolve around 0 cost attacks and getting energy screwed any blocks or free setups that generate energy will be staples... ok, I'm gonna go look at some of the cards... I guess one good thing is that since score is making this game it will keep going for several sets wether it is good or not edit: www.epicbattlestcg.com/images/cards/Round1/84_MK.jpgquite the interesting picture, quite the decent card...

The only downside that I've seen so far is that a lot of the pictures (especially MK) look as though they were drawn by a High School art student. They just don't look as good as I think they should. But oh well, I couldn't draw them any better.

ya block buster is getting heavy into the tcg's. I walked in there the other day, the whole front of the store is one piece, yugioh, teen titans, etc. and then there was a freezer for ice cream.
this game is kinda turning out less cool than I thought it was going to be, though I may just play it so I can be my favorite characters, ermak and rain.......wait, F@#$%^&*()
well that brings up another good issue, will there be other video game franchises joining this? like tekken, KOF, DOA, virtua figher, evil zone, brutal fury, maybe marvel even though they kinda already have a tcg. or will it just be MK vs. SF?

from what I heard (a pojo user who read the epicbattlestcg forums) the first two sets (round 1 and round 2) are both going to have street fighter and MK cards (each set is supposed to have 2 hidden characters in it as well ), then round 3 will start featuring different games: from an admin at the main forums chipmunk "Well now that we've got Tekken and Darkstalkers, there are a few others that we would like to go after in the office." also "Well, this is awesome. And hopefully I'll have achieved everyone's dream because we already have Rival Schools and Tekken for the 3rd Set, and in the next set we will have Darkstalkers and... Oh that's right, I gotta be quiet about that one." the forums are here board.epicbattlestcg.com/tekken and rival schools rock, hopefully they will be able to get coulcalibur onboard... or some neo-geo titles.... anyone remmber primal rage or time killers? pit fighter? killer instinct (that had it's own weak CCG at one time)?

ya I went on the forums a bit too. sounds like there will be several sets of mk and sf untill they get through every single character in both, then they'll go on to new franchises. so, right off the bat they're doing something I don't like. 1st I can't play with my favorite characters for months to come, 2nd when I do get to play them, there will only be one version of the character, and I may not like the power. either way I'll be paying craploads to get the character and all the cards I need.
I really don't like how score's doing this so far: the art's horrible, the rules have been done, I can't get the people I want for months, and the biggest fault...I can't mix the freakin cards! I want king from tekken to bust out a giant hammer and beat someone to death.
lady's and gentlemen, today, I've come to you with a dream. and that dream has been shattered by score! why score why?
and inspite of all of it, I'll cough up the money when the tekken set realeases, because tekken is worth playing regaurdless.

I don't think te street fighter art is too bad... from what I understand there will be one format that is all the cards combined and another "focused" format where each deck can only be one game (might be wrong) 1 thing I don't like is how little the character cards matter... no difference in atk strength, max/starting hand size... even if they don't make it just like DBZ you can check out other games that start with a personality card in play (like the dozen or so wrestling games) and usually your main personality card has more than picture, name, and 1 line of rules text maybe they will release promo versions of some of the most popular characters to give some alternatives to deck construction... aso I think the first set "round 1" and second set "round 2" will have all the SF/MK stuff and then the 3d set will have our tekken goodness... i wanna play Xiaoyu agains Ken
